Customize your LS Nameplate Halter
for Photoshop CS6
What you will need for this turorial: dds plugin for Photoshop, TSR Workshop, LS Nameplate Halter, texture file
Right click
the text layer in your layers palette and select rasterize layer style. We now
have a simple layer without any editable text or layer styles. Hold Ctrl and
click on the layer miniature in the layers palette (not the text or the space to the right, but the
little icon in the left corner) to select the text:

That was
it, you can save this as a .psd file to use for more customized halters. To
save this version as a .dds file do the following:
Select save as and then choose D3D/DDS (*.DDS;*.DDS) and pick a fitting name for the file, then click save. From the drop down menu in the DDS plugin select DXT3 ARGB 8 bpp | explicit Alpha |
All that’s
left to do is adding the texture to a new halter object. Open TSRW and select “Create
New Project”. Then click on “New Import”. Click “Next”. Now click on “Browse” and
select “Package (*.package)” in the bottom right corner. Navigate to the
downloaded “LS Nameplate Halter.package” file and click “open”.
Then click on “Next”. Give the project the name of the horse you wrote on the texture or name it whatever you like, then click “next” and then “OK”. You should now see a preview of the halter. Click on the “Texture” tab on top and then on the “Overlay” layer further down. An “edit” button appears, click it.
A new
window opens, click on “Import” and navigate to your previously saved .dds file
and open it.
Click “Done”. Now go to Edit --> Project Contents and in the new window click on Export à To .package. Give your object a name and save. Now you only need to copy it in to your Mods folder and you’re ready to use it in game. |
Here’s a quick tip: If you want to avoid having 20+ package files with individual names on them, create all the name textures and then combine them in one package file. To do that, do as follows:
Before saving your project, click the icon shown to the right and select “Duplicate”. You can now click on the dropdown menu which says “ahBridle” and go to the newest (the last one) and change the overlay texture with a different name you saved previously. Important: after you switched the texture, a window will pop up asking you if you want to replace the current texture with a new texture. Press “No” to create a new texture! |
